Coach Kunz
Club director for 402 Volleyball and Head coach for 14U this season.
I have been coaching volleyball since 2007, and I am very passionate about leading young women to develop life skills and volleyball skills. I believe an organized environment with core values leads to success on and off the court. I feel a coach’s job is to first care about the athletes as people and develop trust which will lead to a better understanding of the game. Also, I have high standards for my players and allow an environment encouraging athletes to take risks and learn through mistakes. I have spent many years studying the game of volleyball and I am a constant learner. I feel what sets me apart from other coaches is the passion to help people succeed in an exciting atmosphere. Coaching volleyball allows me another avenue to give back to community with programs athletes enjoy.
My personal life includes my wife of 20 plus years and our 2 daughters. We enjoy getting outdoors, taking adventures as a family, and enjoying sports together. My other passion in life is being a Chiropractor, which has been a very rewarding career being able to help so many people live a better life.
Coach Kat Nelson
Head Coach for 16U at 402 Volleyball
I’ve been coaching volleyball since 2012, with experience in both Minnesota and Nebraska. My journey with the sport began in third grade at the Fremont YMCA, where my mom was my first coach—and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m passionate about being a positive influence and role model for young athletes, helping them build confidence, resilience, and a love for the game.
As a setter by trade, I especially enjoy teaching strategy and volleyball IQ. I strive to create a team culture where players feel supported, challenged, and proud of their progress. I love those moments when something finally clicks for a player—their excitement is contagious, and it’s a reminder of why I coach.
Outside of volleyball, I work in sales and love that coaching allows me to stay connected to the sport while giving back to the community. I’m also a proud dog mom and an avid baker. Whether it’s on the court or off, I lead with positivity, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping athletes thrive.
Coach Meagan Novak
I have over 10+ years of both coaching and leadership experience. Despite playing collegiate soccer, I spent 2012-2015 as the assistant sports information director for College of Saint Mary volleyball keeping a foot in the volleyball world. Since, I have continued to play in competitive adult leagues and spend free time watching the sport at all levels to continue learning.
For me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing something an athlete has been working on and then applying it to refine their overall character/game. I like to challenge those I coach to embrace setbacks and learn from them to fuel their drive. I love that coaching gives me an opportunity to build relationships and give back to a sport that has given me so much.
Off the court, you can find me with my family (and dogs), doing some activity outside, reading or watching sports!
